- Structural Design
- Hot Iron Blacksmith can
work with the architect directly and incorporate industry code requirements to the ironwork structure. We can also design
the ironwork to meet structural loads applied in service when the
application is not code specific.

- Historical replications of architectural ironwork requires a
creation of the design details to reproduce the original work.
This design work must recognize the hand forging process utilized by
the blacksmith. Hot Iron Blacksmith
is fully capable to develop the design in a manner that can be authentically
produced by hammer and anvil.
Reference Accounts
- Stairway Railings
- A customer requested a 7 foot metal railing for an interior
stairwell with a design simulating tree branches. The top hand
rail is 2.5 inches in diameter, tapering to a forked base of 1.5 inches
mounted both ends on sculpted plates anchored to the wall and flooring.
Balusters are branches rising from anchored floor plates joining to the
top railing in multiple locations for a structurally security while
providing the natural forms found in nature. The patina is a
natural coloring process that preserves the woody texture of the metal
surfaces. Clear coatings are applied to protect the surfaces and
provide a long life without future treatments.

- Ranch Gate Latch and Decorations
- These board railing horse arena gates needed a heavy duty latch that
was also decorative. The western motif was accomplished by coiling
a steel rope to form a lariat suspended from horseshoe hangers. Gate
hold backs and ranch insignias further identified with the central
theme.

- Methodist Church Bell Enclosure
- This 1860's brass bell has been preserved and displayed in from of
the newer Methodist Church in a Midwest town. The railing
enclosure was designed to protect the bell and identify the bell with
the modern Flame and Cross registered symbol of the United Methodist
Church. Minimal modification were required to the symbol to
create it in a durable iron design.

Chapel Alter Candle Stand
A customer developed a chapel by restoring an old Methodist church.
The alter candle stands were developed for this small chapel
alter table.

Candle Holders
A customer had a photo from a designer magazine of a similar
candle holder. The holders were made to specified size and patina.

Garden Ornaments
"Can you make an obelisk similar to the one advertised in this website, but
shorter?" Sure, why not. How about this one.

Montana Ranch Gate Sign
This
Rocking B sign is suspended at the entrance to a ranch in Montana.

Cast Iron Kettle Stand
The large cast iron was from the family farm and is now displayed in the this
ornate stand. The stand is on runners and can be easily moved around the garden for different visual advantages.

Bathroom Accessories
Decorative
ironwork was developed to compliment the customers existing ironwork. The
mirror frame was customized to fit the antique mirror from the customer's family
heirlooms.
Kitchen Sink Vanity Curtain Stand
A customer
needed a set of decorative iron stands to hold vanity curtains for her farm
style cast iron sink. Another blacksmith had promised them three years
before. She got them in two weeks from us and the rods have acorn finials.

Wood Carving Stands
These stands support wood carvings done by local wood carving artists.
They are made to complement the wood carvings.
Cattail Sculpture
This original organic form sculpture was developed at the
request of a customer to support the beautiful custom glass birdbath
bowl. The bowl is approximately 24 inches in diameter. The flow
iron base is approximately 36 inches by 36 inches and the cattail plants
measure 70 inches in height.
